Whichever school she goes to will need improvements to become disability-friendly. Joshuanette continues to fight for change in the nation’s schools. The aim is for one school from each primary school zone in the country, along with five secondary schools – Sir Novelle Richards Academy, St Mary’s Secondary, Antigua Girls’ High, Antigua Grammar School, and Sir McChesney George Secondary in Barbuda - to be wheelchair-accessible, complete with an accessible bathroom. “Children like Diana should not be limited by something as simple as there being no bathroom for her to use. Resources are limited and the government can’t do it all,” Joshuanette says. “That’s why we as the public have to rally together to help.” n
