Antigua itself is one of the most unspoilt of the Caribbean islands. Beautiful natural harbours and protective coral reefs make sure that the natural splendour of this island will not be lost. With countless unblemished beaches of golden white sand it is the perfect place to relax and unravel. The island is however, steeped in history for travellers to uncover. Nelson's Dockyard provides a glimpse into this rich past and is the only continuously operating Georgian dockyard in the world. Today the dockyard retains all of its charm with the addition of shops, museums and restaurants scattered around the natural harbour and the surrounding designated national park. It is also used as a backdrop for one of the top five regattas in the world and the biggest in the Caribbean - Antigua Sailing Week. This annual international event welcomes participants from all corners of the globe to compete for the chance to win this prestigious regatta. Antigua also offers some of the finest cricket in the Caribbean, often welcoming the West Indies cricket team to the first rate Stanford Cricket ground.
